SAP Team Information
SAP (Student Assistance Program) is designed to assist school personnel in identifying issues including alcohol, tobacco, other drugs and mental health issues which pose a barrier to a student’s success.
It is a systemic process using techniques to mobilize school resources in order to remove barriers to learning. The core of the program is a professionally trained team, including school staff and liaisons from community alcohol and drug and mental health agencies. SAP team members are trained to identify problems, determine whether or not the presenting problem lies within the responsibility of the school and to make recommendations to assist the student and the parent.
There is a SAP mailbox located in our Faculty room where staff can anonymously refer students they may be concerned about. Forms to be filled out are available in the mailbox and completed forms will go in the yellow envelope marked “Completed SAP Referrals”. The SAP team will check for mail every other day and will meet every other week to look over these referrals and will decide the appropriate steps to take.
