The Pittston Area High School Marching Band is preparing to represent Pennsylvania at the Bands of America’s Grand National Championships, competing among 110 elite bands nationwide. This is the first time a band from this area has been selected, marking a significant milestone. The journey to this stage took two years of planning and commitment, initiated by a parents' meeting in late 2023. The band will travel to Indianapolis for the three-day competition, including a visit to Lucas Oil Stadium to experience the venue. Band members, including long-time participants Lillie Solovey and Kayla Meranti, reflect on their growth from a small group during the COVID-19 pandemic to a large, dedicated ensemble. Their intense practice schedule highlights their mental and physical dedication. The band is set to perform on November 14 at 8:45 a.m., showcasing their hard work and representing their community on a national platform.
