We’re excited to celebrate the 10th year of Remake Learning Days—a worldwide festival of hands-on learning designed to spark creativity, curiosity, and problem-solving in students of all ages!
Right here at the Primary Center, all of our students will take part in an in-school Outer Space–themed STEM experience:
📅 May 4th – 1st Grade (including Mrs. LoPresto’s class)
📅 May 5th – Kindergarten (including Mrs. Walski & Mrs. Ranieli’s classes)
📅 May 8th – 2nd Grade
Students will rotate through exciting, hands-on stations including building cardboard Solar Shelters, launching Flying Cup Rockets, creating Tea Light Planets, coding Sphero Indi Robots, and exploring science with Magnetic Galaxy Slime. 🚀🧪🤖
Leading up to the event, students will also enjoy space-themed learning throughout the school—like trivia in the halls, NASA-inspired sounds of space in music class, and creating textured moon collages in art! 🎨🌙
We encourage families to extend the learning at home by visiting the Hubble exhibit at the Everhart Museum and checking out additional Remake Learning Days events happening in our community from May 1st–23rd. With over 100 events in Luzerne County, there are so many opportunities to explore, create, and learn together!

Let’s get ready to learn, explore, and launch into STEM! 🚀✨

Teachers, specialists, educational assistants, secretaries, cafeteria monitors, maintenance staff, and guidance counselors all had the opportunity to bring their children (and special young guests!) to experience a day in their shoes. From classrooms to cafeterias to behind-the-scenes work, our visitors got a firsthand look at all the important roles that keep our school running each day.
This year’s theme, “The Future is @ Work,” reminded us how powerful it is for students to see how today’s learning connects to tomorrow’s opportunities. We hope today sparked curiosity, inspired big dreams, and gave our young visitors a glimpse into their future paths.
Thank you to everyone who participated and made today such a meaningful and memorable experience! 💙✨

We were excited to welcome guest readers from the Pittston Area High School FAB Readers. It was extra meaningful as many of these students once walked our elementary hallways themselves!
They shared a story all about Earth Day, inspiring our students to learn more about caring for our planet. 🌎 The fun continued as students created their very own Earth Day crafts with a promise to care for Earth and reflect on what they learned.
Thank you to our FAB Readers for visiting and making today so memorable for our students!

Today, the top five highest-earning classes for the Pittston Area Leo Club Coin Drop were rewarded with a well-deserved pizza party! Your hard work, teamwork, and generosity truly paid off.
Thanks to everyone who contributed, the funds raised will be donated to cancer research—making a meaningful difference in the lives of so many. 💛
We are so proud of our students for giving back and showing such kindness and community spirit! 👏

Our second grade students recently took part in a special school-wide beautification project! Each class contributed by drawing objects connected to one of five subject areas: Social Studies, Reading, Science/Tech, Art/Music/Gym, and Math.
These creative student drawings were then collaged, projected, and beautifully brought to life with paint by Mrs. Davis. 🎨🖌️
We are proud to share that these colorful canvases will be displayed throughout the stairwells of the Primary Center, adding a bright and meaningful touch to our school environment for all to enjoy! 💙♥️
Great job, second grade, and a big thank you to Mrs. Davis for turning student creativity into lasting artwork! 👏

When a student was spotted showing these behaviors, their name was added to the STAR Bingo Board. When a row of 10 names connected, those students earned a bonus prize, presented by Mr. Savokinas! 🎁👏
Congratulations to today’s winners! Your actions help create a positive, respectful environment for everyone in our school. Keep showing what it means to be a STAR! ✨

We are so proud to celebrate our talented students who were recognized by our local AMVETS post!
🏆 Leah K – Kindergarten Winner
🏆 William B – 1st Grade Winner
🏆 Tim B – 2nd Grade Winner
Our Kindergarten and 1st grade students participated in a flag coloring contest and answered questions about the history of our American flag 🇺🇸, while our 2nd grade winner, Tim, created a thoughtful drawing and wrote an essay about what Americanism means.
Even more exciting—all of their entries will advance to the next level of competition, with the opportunity to move on to state and even national recognition! 🌟
We are incredibly proud of their hard work, creativity, and patriotism. Way to go, Leah, William, and Tim! 👏🎉

Also, any 5th grade parent that has any donations (gift cards, raffle baskets, etc) to please drop off at 6pm at our meeting at the middle school cafeteria.

As spring blooms outside with flowers growing, birds chirping, and sunshine shining bright, the same joyful energy is blossoming inside our classroom! 🌼🐦
In Mrs. Luvender’s kindergarten class, minds were blooming, kids were happily chattering, and smiles were shining all around! 😄✨ Students enjoyed a fantastic Fun Friday filled with engaging small group activities and educational games.
🎣 They “fished” for sight words
🔤 Reviewed beginning sounds
💻 Practiced skills on their computers
📚 And practiced their reading skills with our very special Grandpa John ❤️
Grandpa John is a dedicated volunteer from the Foster Grandparent Program of Luzerne County, and we are so lucky to have him in our classroom each and every day! This wonderful program connects senior volunteers with students to provide one-on-one support, helping build reading skills, confidence, and meaningful relationships. Their kindness, patience, and daily presence make a lasting impact on our students’ growth both academically and socially. 🌱💛
Thank you, Grandpa John, for all you do for our classroom!

🍦📚 ROBO Readers’ Celebration! 📚✨
Our top ROBO Readers classrooms were treated today to a sweet reward! Mrs. Chaump served up a delicious ice cream social, generously sponsored by our amazing PTO! 🍨💙
Congratulations to our top reading classrooms:
📖 Kindergarten: Mrs. Kelly’s class
📖 1st Grade: Mrs. Flynn’s class
📖 2nd Grade: Mrs. Montalvo’s class
These students read the most books in their grade levels—what an incredible accomplishment! 👏📚 Keep up the great reading, everyone! 💫

After finishing the story Officer Buckle and Gloria, our students got a special visit from our local police officers! They had the chance to meet members of the police team, learn more about their important work, and ask lots of great questions.
And of course… the highlight of the visit was meeting Zeus! 🐾💙
Thank you to our local police department for taking the time to connect with our students and make learning come to life!
