🥁🌍 2nd grade students had the opportunity to learn about the music and culture of Ghana, West Africa! Students participated in a traditional African drum circle with master teacher and performer Maxwell Kofi Dankor. 🎶🪘
During the experience, students learned various call-and-response chants and drum rhythms while exploring the rich traditions of African music and culture. 🌟
Thank you to our district administration and school board for providing our students with this amazing cultural opportunity and enriching learning experience! ❤️👏

📚🎉 What a day to celebrate our AMAZING readers! 🎉📚

Mrs. Chaump, First Grade Reading Specialist, planned a special celebration for the incredible readers in Mrs. Montalvo’s class—and it was one for the books!

Thanks to the 🐧 Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and 💙 Wayne Bank, our students were treated to pizza, prizes, and lots of smiles as they were recognized for reading the MOST books in NEPA during the spring session of the ROBO Reader’s Program!

Mrs. Chaump added her creative touch by designing a fun coloring sheet and an exciting Book Bingo to keep the celebration going. 🎨📖

To top it all off, Wayne Bank generously gifted the classroom an Amazon gift card to help grow their classroom library—what an incredible way to keep the love of reading alive!

We are so proud of these hardworking boys and girls—keep turning those pages! 💫📚

🌌🚀 Remake Learning Days Are Coming to the Primary Center! 🚀🌌
We’re excited to celebrate the 10th year of Remake Learning Days—a worldwide festival of hands-on learning designed to spark creativity, curiosity, and problem-solving in students of all ages!
Right here at the Primary Center, all of our students will take part in an in-school Outer Space–themed STEM experience:
📅 May 4th – 1st Grade (including Mrs. LoPresto’s class)
📅 May 5th – Kindergarten (including Mrs. Walski & Mrs. Ranieli’s classes)
📅 May 8th – 2nd Grade
Students will rotate through exciting, hands-on stations including building cardboard Solar Shelters, launching Flying Cup Rockets, creating Tea Light Planets, coding Sphero Indi Robots, and exploring science with Magnetic Galaxy Slime. 🚀🧪🤖
Leading up to the event, students will also enjoy space-themed learning throughout the school—like trivia in the halls, NASA-inspired sounds of space in music class, and creating textured moon collages in art! 🎨🌙
We encourage families to extend the learning at home by visiting the Hubble exhibit at the Everhart Museum and checking out additional Remake Learning Days events happening in our community from May 1st–23rd. With over 100 events in Luzerne County, there are so many opportunities to explore, create, and learn together!

Today our school was filled with some very special visitors as we celebrated Bring Your Kids to Work Day 2026! 👩‍🏫👨‍🔧🍎
Teachers, specialists, educational assistants, secretaries, cafeteria monitors, maintenance staff, and guidance counselors all had the opportunity to bring their children (and special young guests!) to experience a day in their shoes. From classrooms to cafeterias to behind-the-scenes work, our visitors got a firsthand look at all the important roles that keep our school running each day.

This year’s theme, “The Future is @ Work,” reminded us how powerful it is for students to see how today’s learning connects to tomorrow’s opportunities. We hope today sparked curiosity, inspired big dreams, and gave our young visitors a glimpse into their future paths.
Thank you to everyone who participated and made today such a meaningful and memorable experience! 💙✨

Today was another special day filled with the joy of reading! 📚💚
We were excited to welcome guest readers from the Pittston Area High School FAB Readers. It was extra meaningful as many of these students once walked our elementary hallways themselves!
They shared a story all about Earth Day, inspiring our students to learn more about caring for our planet. 🌎 The fun continued as students created their very own Earth Day crafts with a promise to care for Earth and reflect on what they learned.
Thank you to our FAB Readers for visiting and making today so memorable for our students!

🎨✨ Pittston Area Primary Center Beautification Project ✨🎨

Our second grade students recently took part in a special school-wide beautification project! Each class contributed by drawing objects connected to one of five subject areas: Social Studies, Reading, Science/Tech, Art/Music/Gym, and Math.

These creative student drawings were then collaged, projected, and beautifully brought to life with paint by Mrs. Davis. 🎨🖌️

We are proud to share that these colorful canvases will be displayed throughout the stairwells of the Primary Center, adding a bright and meaningful touch to our school environment for all to enjoy! 💙♥️

Great job, second grade, and a big thank you to Mrs. Davis for turning student creativity into lasting artwork! 👏

We’re proud to celebrate another group of students who were recognized for making positive choices and following our STAR expectations — Self-control, Taking responsibility, a positive Attitude, and Respect. ⭐
When a student was spotted showing these behaviors, their name was added to the STAR Bingo Board. When a row of 10 names connected, those students earned a bonus prize, presented by Mr. Savokinas! 🎁👏
Congratulations to today’s winners! Your actions help create a positive, respectful environment for everyone in our school. Keep showing what it means to be a STAR! ✨
